Auckland gas hob replacement: before and after

The existing Electrolux gas hob had reached the point where the homeowner wanted a modern replacement. Before starting, our Gasfitters checked the appliance, the gas connection and the surrounding benchtop so the change could be completed safely.

We isolated the gas supply, disconnected the old appliance and carefully lifted it out without damaging the stone benchtop or the oven below.

Once the old hob was removed, the original seal and residue around the cutout were cleared away. The opening was cleaned and checked against the replacement appliance dimensions so the new hob could sit level and seal neatly against the benchtop.

We also inspected the gas connection below the bench and confirmed the installation arrangement before fitting the new appliance.

The new five burner Parmco gas hob was secured in the prepared opening and connected to the gas supply. Its large central wok burner gives strong heat while the smaller burners provide flexible control for everyday cooking.

After installation, our Gasfitters tested the connection for leaks, checked ignition and flame stability at each burner, and commissioned the appliance for safe operation. The final photos show the finished fit and the burners operating with clean blue flames.
